Airside Works
The designs and construction of the runway, taxiways, aprons; visual aids and lighting systems are in accordance with ICAO standards and recommended practices. These facilities are designed and built to accommodate code F aircrafts including the A380.
Salient Features:
75% of aircrafts can be parked on stands at the terminal connected by passenger boarding bridges, which can enable 90% of passengers to use the gates.
Sufficient area for parking, ramp handling equipments are provided close to the pier.
Type C and smaller aircrafts can be pushed back along the terminal pier without interrupting the traffic on the adjoining apron taxiway.
The cargo apron is capable of accommodating code F aircrafts while the maintenance apron is designed for code C aircrafts
All aprons are designed as concrete pavements.
All aircraft stands are equipped with fuel hydrants supplied through underground pipelines from the fuel farm.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has been built in a clearly defined and preplanned phases. The addition of each phase will be determined by the volume of traffic passing through the airport.
