RGIA completes one-month of operations;
Set to receive Gulf Air from July 08

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, has successfully stabilized after a one month of commercial operations on April 22, 2008.

In the last one month, the new international airport registered a 16 per cent growth in Air Traffic Movements and a 13 per cent passenger growth over corresponding period last year. This percentage growth is compared to Begumpet.

The new airport is also attracting the attention of many a global airline company and many of them are keen to place this airport in their operations map. The first among them would be the Middle-eastern airliner, Gulf Air, which would launch its operations to Hyderabad from July 1, 2008, with A320 aircraft.

The fuel uplift which was about 550 KL per day at the Begumpet Airport has got doubled at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and has reached to 1100 KL per day. This is due to reduction in Service Tax from Government of Andhra Pradesh from 33 percent to 4 percent on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) and also due to the Open Access Model.

Expressing happiness over the successful completion of one month of operations, Mr. A Viswanath, Chief Commercial Officer, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, thanked all the Airlines, all regulatory agencies like Customs, Immigration, CISF & AAI, and common public, for extending their wholehearted support.

“With the blessings of one and all and through the sheer hard work and dedication of each one associated with the new airport, we have successfully crossed one-month milestone,” he added.

He also assured that the company would continue to strive to deliver the best of services to the passengers and live up to the expectations of all in the days to come.
