GHIAL awards bookstore concessions to Landmark and Odyssey

Landmark and Odyssey to set up separate bookstores in the new airport
To offer newspapers, magazines, books, music and movies through their retail outlets
Concessions with both the parties are for three years from the Airport launch in March 2008
GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), which is developing the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, has awarded retail bookstore concessions to Landmark and Odyssey India Limited. Each concession agreement is for a period of three years starting from the Airport launch in March 2008.

Landmark belongs to the Tata Group, while Odyssey is a subsidiary of Deccan Chronicle Holdings Private Limited. They will offer extensive range of newspapers, magazines, books, music and movies in the warm international shopping ambience and friendly service from their courteous staff.

These retailers have emerged the preferred bidders to bag the bookstore concessions based on technical and financial parameters such as their background, network of operations in India, proposed categories of merchandise for the bookstore outlets, concept planned for these outlets and financial proposals.

As per the contracts, Landmark will set up and operate a bookstore in the Passenger Terminal Building - Domestic Departure and Arrivals area, in the Airport Village - in the airport covering approximately an area of 80 sq. meters, whereas Odyssey will set up and operate its bookstore in the international departures spread over an area of 42 sq. meters.

Both the concession partners would complete the interior works of their stores before December, 2007 and be ready to commence the business operations by February, 2008.

Speaking on the awarding of the bookstore concessions, Mr T Srinagesh, COO - GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited, said: "Both Landmark and Odyssey have all India presence and are most admired leisure retail chains in the country. We believe that these large format book retailers will offer wide choice to book lovers at the Airport."
